| How are you, Hmmmm? Don't mind
me, I have to greet everyone. In case you have not noticed, I am a
gorgeous Double Yellow Headed Amazon Parott. My relatives are from
Southern Mexico or Guatamala. I actually claim very few of them as
I was adopted by my Mommy and Daddy (Otternot and Trucker Jim) in
January 2001. I talked a little then, but I've learned SO much more.
I sing and dance and recognize people. I especially recognize my folks.
I do have other favorites, but I really try to keep that to myself.
Listening to music is one of my favorite things to do. I listen very
carefully and eventually I can pick up the tune. Nothing can beat
a good rousing rendition of "What's New Pussycat" or "Happy Birthday"
though. I particularly love it when others join me in singing and
I try to encourage them by telling them it is "your turn." Sometimes
they listen, sometimes, they don't. When I was first adopted, my folks
used to take me out alot and let me go sit on a perch in their computer
room, where I would sing with my favorites and generally make noise.
I loved that, but didn't see alot of real people or much of outside.
In March 2003 we moved to Washington State. I don't get to get out
of my cage as much, but I see alot more people and I can see outside
anytime I want. About three years ago my sister "Natasha"
got very sick and now she is in bird heaven. My mommy and daddy missed
her very much and bought a brother for me. His name is "Mickey"
but he calls himself "Mick" and so do we. He is a "Blue
Front Amazon" and looks a lot like me except he has a dark beak
and a patch of pretty blue around its front. He is older than me and
doesn't sing on key and can't whistle, but talks a lot. He thinks
he is the best looking guy out there and would like to be romantic,
but, after all, he's my adopted brother and I want nothing to do with
him "that way," if you know what I mean. Also, in the afternoons,
I sometimes like to communicate with the spirits by talking directly
to them. He doesn't like that and tells me to "shut up"
and some other nasty things. But we sometimes have fun together, so
I accept him as my brother. |
